wake me when you're home, my eyes are growing tired, I'm scared that I'll miss out on a single kiss goodnight, goodnight. love is never fun when you're counting down the days til' fate sweeps you away and leads you back to where you came, back to where you came from, I'm not going back. west to east, your lonely tone cuts right through me, hang up the phone. east to west, my words like traveling birds that long for rest, long to be heard. still locked inside your birdcage chest "sing for me your songs," you'd always say to me, but halfway through I'd always stop, You'd fallen fast asleep, I wish you'd stay awake, as I rise to leave, and springs creak in your bed, your waking eyes stare up at me, you fumble for my hand, "please won't you start again?" but I've flown far from then, west to east, your lonely tone cuts right through me, hang up the phone. east to west, my words like traveling birds that long for rest, long to be heard. still locked inside your birdcage chest I felt trapped inside your warmth so I moved to the cold, ribs and muscle on my way, all recklessly were torn, now I'm free to make my nest, they say "free as a bird" but how I miss the warmth of knowing my songs would be heard, west to east, your lonely tone cuts right through me, hang up the phone. east to west, my words like traveling birds that long for rest, long to be heard. still locked inside your birdcage chest

You Owe Me 04:04
I was sang to on your porch, the melody stung my eyes as the smoke hung in my throat, lit my cigarette, a calming flare, but you got me going in a way that just just wasn't fair, you owe me something, I just don't know what, a kiss in the evening just is not enough there's something that the morning craves and I'm not very well behaved, so now I'll sing to you, this song is yours, I don't owe you it but it's a tune I can't ignore, so light your cigarette and listen up, there's a feeling in me and I'm certain you'd be able to find a cure, you owe me something, I just don't know what, a kiss in the evening just is not enough, there's something that the morning craves and I'm not very well behaved, you owe me something, I just don't know what, a kiss in the evening just is not enough, there's something that the morning craves and I'm not very well behaved,

about

My name is Kev. I am a songwriter from San Diego, CA currently residing in Boston, MA. I’ve been exposed to many types of music in the time I’ve been studying here. I’ve been drawn to folk and other acoustic music, especially that of Iron & Wine and Noah Gundersen.

While the music I have made with others has grown over time, my personal writing has also been growing. Now, I’m excited to express that side of my music to anyone who can open their ears and mind to the experience.

Since coming to Boston to study music, I’ve met amazing people who have helped shape me into the artist and person I am now. This family I have been drawn into are some of the best musicians and friends that I’ve ever been fortunate enough to spend time with and learn from as well. 18 Ashford St. is the house in which my family inhabits. It has been my saving grace this past year and this EP was written and recorded within its walls making it obvious that the work be titled thusly, “Ashford.”

Enjoy the sounds I’ve made at this house and take a moment to appreciate who’s led you to where you are now.
